In 2023 I stepped up as a new co-founder for Climate Designers to help rebuild the product offerings and support the organization in the next phases of its business development. I manage the day to day operations along with Marc O’Brien and our 40+ volunteers. It’s been an exciting journey that began with the Resource Library pictured here, which I created during my time as a Climatebase fellow and is why I first contacted Climate Designers. Fast forward a few years and here are the ways I’ve supported the org both locally and globally.

Resource Library

This is a living document. The scope of the resources are broad and systemic, with the intention of connecting designers across disciplines to the principles and industry resources needed to take that first step on leveraging change through their work. I created the first draft as part of my own learning journey, and have since had lots of help in filling in areas outside of my reach.

Newsletter

I lead the creation of the Climate Designers monthly newsletter, launched in 2024. The newsletter highlights goings on at the intersection of design and climate happening globally, as well as whats new for the org. It’s a community effort that highlights voices from our volunteer community, and we have started writing thought pieces on topics we find inspiring and actionable as well.

Bay Area Chapter Lead

I help produce local events as part of the Bay Area Chapter. We’ve done everything from lightning talks and speaker series to facilitated workshops and walking tours. It’s been an incredible way to meet local designers and try out new event formats to see what resonates most with the community.

Operations

A lot of what I’ve done with Climate Designers is support the backend of how the organization runs. As a small organization that grew quickly and organically, there was an absence of proper systems and documentation in place for things to run smoothly. We now have more streamlined processes for our day to day operations and robust documentation to support it.

Biz Dev

Much of what I have done with Climate Designers is work on strategy for what we could be as a larger fully funded organization. I led strategic visioning exercises to tighten our mission, vision, theory of change, and metrics of success. We crunched numbers, did a lot of fundraising research, and are finally fiscally sponsored. Given the current fundraising climate we have put some of these bigger visions on hold, but the foundation is there for the future.
